Tacoma Bridge Collapse
Tacoma Bridge Collapse. Was this the wobbliest bridge in the world? Amazing footage of the collapse of the world's third largest suspension bridge (at the time),Tacoma Narrows Bridge, Washington, in 1940. The only casualty was a dog who had been left in a stalled car by its owner.

Profiles
Profiles are used in many structures, especially metal ones.
They are bars that have different cross-sections.
By using profiles we can make lighter structures that can bear greater weights as well as using less material.

Efforts
The forces that act on a structure are calle loads.
These are the main efforts that a structure can receive:
Traction is an effort that makes an object longer.
Compression this is the effort which squeezes or buckles an element.
When we “squeeze” and element, it becomes shorter and thicker.
When an “element” bends in the middle due to the compression forces, it “buckles”
Bending: a structure which is subjected to bending is being stretched and squeezed at the same time.
